Reversal of the LPS-induced phenotype by the CSF-1R inhibitor PLX5622 suggests that microglia and/or infiltrating macrophages participate in the breakdown of the BRB and the accumulation of sub-retinal fluid during chronic inflammation, rendering the regulation of these cells activation a potentially important therapeutic target for retinal disorders where the integrity of the BRB is compromised. Here, CSF1R is linked to retinal disorder.
