Multiple syndromes and diseases have been associated with an increased risk of developing pancreatic cancer, including hereditary breast and ovarian cancer with mutation of breast cancer 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer 2 (BRCA2) [20], which lead to a deficiency in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage repair (DDR). Here, BRCA1 is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
