For the lung cancer example, a careful examination of the top 10 COSMIC predictors for the C2.CP collection (see Table 2) reveals that all ten in fact have a known association with lung adenocarcinoma (only six are in the list of known driver genes) with most also serving as therapeutic targets and/or prognostic indicators (TP53 [32], SMARCA4 [39], MET [40, 41], KRAS [42, 43], SETD2 [44], RBM10 [45], STK11 [46, 47], EGFR [43, 48], FOXA1 [49] and MYC [43]). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and lung carcinoma.
