However, deaths have been reported from different case series.32,41 Biochemical and hematological abnormalities, such as leukopenia, lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, hypocalcaemia, hyponatremia, and mild-to-moderate increase in liver function tests [SGPT, serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT)] are seen with acute infections.42 However, these results are not specific and do not provide enough evidence to be used as a diagnostic tool.
