Like Inoue et al. [59] found in C57BL/6Ncrj male mice, we found that Pparg and its target gene Cd36 were both upregulated in the male and female HF mice, corroborating their conclusion that an HF diet induces liver steatosis by upregulating Pparg. Similar to other studies, we found an upregulation of genes in pathways associated with defense, stress, and inflammation responses [56, 57]. The gene discussed is PPARG; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
