Observations in this study provided solid evidence that one gene could yield several mRNAs via alternative splicing(AS), resulting in multiple transcripts and various proteins, some of which even exert antagonistic functions, such as SORBS2, VTI1A, SULT2B1, and ENTPD5. This finding did not align with the previous study that reported most survival associated AS events in ovarian cancer were favorable prognostic factors (24). The gene discussed is ENTPD5; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
