Previous studies reported that Lactobacillus suppressed T-cell proliferation and Th2 cytokines secretion from allergic objects (Von der Weid et al., 2001; Lin et al., 2006), inhibited IgE responses and systemic anaphylaxis in a murine model of food allergy (Shida et al., 2002), and enhanced IFN-γ production (Pohjavuori et al., 2004). This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and food allergy.
