HLA-C and neoplasm: Addressing intracellular therapeutically relevant antigens might be advantageous in order to increase the number of tumour-derived targets, and cellular therapies based on engineered (transgenic) TCRs have been developed.80 Contrary to CARs, TCRs can recognise intracellular antigens presented by the MHC, and genetic modifications of TCRαβ sequences can be applied in order to change the affinity of the TCR, redirecting it towards therapeutically relevant antigens (Fig. 1).
