Hyperphosphatemia can induce osteocytes and osteoblasts to express FGF-23 and subsequently reduces phosphate reabsorption by inhibiting NaPi-IIa activity directly and indirectly by inhibiting renal CYP27B1 expression to lower blood 1,25D level, then reduces intestinal phosphate absorption [63]. This evidence concerns the gene FGF23 and hyperphosphatemia.
