IFNG and infection: In the context of trypanosomatid infection by Trypanosoma cruzi, the immunization of mice with a protein from the PFR family (PFR2) fused to HSP70 as a DNA vaccine provided a protective response against T. cruzi experimental infection by inducing an increase in the expression of IL-2 and IFN-γ by splenic CD8+ T cells and by the generation of antigen-specific T cells (Morell et al., 2006).
