CD4 and gonorrhea: In our study, assessment of CD4+ lymphocyte count revealed a higher mean of CD4+ lymphocyte among gonorrhea infected than non-infected patients, although the difference was not statistically significant, Levine et al. previously showed that the median of endocervical CD4+ lymphocyte was significantly greater among patients with STDs than among those without them and it may facilitate HIV transmission by increasing the presence of CD4+ lymphocytes at endocervix (26).
