Despite their similar chemical structures, levetiracetam and piracetam are employed in different clinical applications; levetiracetam (N03AX14) is a broad-spectrum antiepileptic drug that affects neuronal signaling by binding to and affecting synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A) function, whereas piracetam (N06BX03) is an allosteric modulator of the AMPA receptor and has been recognized for putative effects as a cognitive enhancer and an adjunctive agent for myoclonus in case reports22 (Fig. 4c, d). Here, SV2A is linked to Myoclonus.
