AFAP1 and cancer: It was found that AFAP1-AS1 is overexpressed in various types of cancers, including esophageal cancer (Wu et al., 2013), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (Bo et al., 2015), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (Ye et al., 2015), lung cancer (Yu et al., 2015), ovarian cancer (Yang S.L. et al., 2016), hepatocellular carcinoma (Lu et al., 2016; Zhang et al., 2016), gastric cancer (Guo et al., 2017), biliary tract cancer (Lu et al., 2017), and colorectal cancer (Han et al., 2016; Li Q. et al., 2016; Wang et al., 2016).
