This finding is not only consistent with well-established roles of Jak-STAT (Müller et al., 2005; Sansone and Bromberg, 2012) and PI3K-Akt (Bleau et al., 2009; Janku et al., 2012) in tumorigenesis in general, but is also consistent with recent findings that implicate Jak-STAT (Buslei et al., 2006) and PI3K-Akt (Rubinfeld and Shimon, 2012) specifically in pituitary tumors. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is pituitary tumor.
