More detailed analysis of the CS of non-tumoral (adjacent) tissues of patients versus their tumoral tissue revealed down-regulation of TROY expression (from 3.3 ± 0.9 to 2.5 ± 0.9, p = 0.004, Fig. 2A), coinciding with up-regulation of LGR5 expression (from 2.7 ± 0.9 to 3.6 ± 1.1, p = 0.001, Fig. 2A), which resulted in a highly significant mean difference of the two molecules in the tumor tissue (p < 0.0001, Fig. 2A).
