Inhibition of TYRO3 using shRNA in the HCT116 colorectal cancer [35], A2058 melanoma [48], SK-LMS-1 leiomyosarcoma [61], and paclitaxel-resistant SKOV3/TR ovarian cancer [57] cell lines resulted in decreased colony-formation in soft agar demonstrating a role for TYRO3 in anchorage-independent growth, which is a classic feature of cellular transformation. The gene discussed is TYRO3; the disease is melanoma.
