In the last 15 years the list of non-canonical functions of Caspase-8 has lengthened and it includes cell death related functions, such as autophagy and necroptosis (reviewed in [11]) as well as cell death unrelated functions, such as the modulation of NF-κB activity and of the development of the immune system (reviewed in [11,12]) and the promotion of cell adhesion and migration in cancer cells [13,14]. This evidence concerns the gene CASP8 and cancer.
