BCR and chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) is an aging-associated disease (approximately half of cases are diagnosed in people older than 65) caused by reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22 that give rise to the Philadelphia chromosome (Ph) and the BCR-ABL gene formation that encodes an oncoprotein tyrosine kinase with an aberrant activity in the hematopoietic stem cells (8, 9).
