By a stepwise approach, using univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses, it was revealed that positive results for CMV DNA PCR in the maternal uterine cervical secretion (odds ratio [OR], 16.4; 95% confidence interval [CI], 5.0–54.1; p < 0.001), and the detection of ultrasound fetal abnormalities (OR, 31.9; 95% CI, 8.5–120.3; p < 0.001) were significant predictors for congenital CMV infection in CMV IgM-positive pregnant women. The gene discussed is CD40LG; the disease is cytomegalovirus infection.
