To test whether neutrophil and monocyte/macrophage infiltration is the leading cause of LV remodeling in the acute phase of infarction, we performed IHC staining at day 6 for inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) to evaluate tissue inflammation (Fig 7A) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) to detect neutrophils infiltration (Fig 7B).
