ACTA1 and cardiac hypertrophy: MiR-124 would be involved in cardiac hypertrophy, since its expression isincreased in a model of angiotensin II-induced hypertrophy in primary culturedrat neonatal cardiomyocytes, and inhibition of its expression would suppressangiotensin II-induced hypertrophy.49 In mice, induction of miR-499 expression in the heartcaused cellular hypertrophy and cardiac dysfunction due to altered expression ofcontractile proteins - MYH7B and skeletal muscle actin alpha 1(ACTA1).50
