The overexpression of LAYN in CD8+ T cells from normal peripheral blood resulted in inhibition of IFN-γ production (a cytokine involved in immune-mediated tumor rejection), this suggests that LAYN might be a master regulator of a major signaling pathway involved in the inhibition of the cytotoxic activity of CD8+ T cells and that it could mediate immunesuppression in the TME. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is neoplasm.
