Further examining select genes with distinct functional roles in macrophages, NRP1 expression was found to be significantly correlated with genes that characterize the M2 pro-tumorigenic GAM signature, such as Adm and Mrc1 [16, 17, 28–30], as well as those involved in angiogenic signaling [29, 31], phagocytosis [32, 33], and negative regulation of T cell function [34] in the TCGA GBM cohort (Figure 6B).
