Rapamycin and its analogs temsirolimus, everolimus, and deforolimus, inhibitors of mTOR, are undergoing clinical evaluation for treatment of a variety of cancers, including breast cancer (Minami et al., 2011), supporting our notion that Src-AKT-STAT3 signaling may be crucial for chemoresistance in TNBC cells.
