TNNI3 and myocardial infarction: The cardiac troponins (cTn) are among the most utilised cardiac biomarkers, with cardiac troponin I (cTnI), a protein found only in the myocardium, often being considered as the gold standard for cardiac biomarkers, with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) recommending its use to rule-in/rule-out acute myocardial infarction (AMI) [6,7].
