Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR)-ΔF508 (Johnston et al., 1998), α-synuclein (Spillantini et al., 1997), and aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase complex-interacting multifunctional protein-2 (AIMP2) (Corti et al., 2003) are aggregation-prone proteins associated with the development of cystic fibrosis or PD. Here, CFTR is linked to Parkinson disease.
