IFNG and neoplasm: M1 macrophages can generate pro-inflammatory cytokines to help destroy foreign organisms and tumor cells (Kroner et al., 2014; Martinez & Gordon, 2014), induce T-helper-1-type cell response, and increase the production of interferon-gamma by both T and NK cells (Zhang et al., 2013; Cheema et al., 2014; Lasek et al., 2017), so M1 macrophage penetration into tumor tissues will ameliorate harsh tumor microenvironment.
