Produced by activated Kupffer cells in the liver, IL-6 is one of the most important NF-κB-dependent cytokines, and expression of IL-6 has been shown to be high in liver cirrhosis as well as hepatocellular carcinoma, therefore, indicating that NF-κB in liver myeloid cells positively promotes liver cancer development through IL-6 [32]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and liver cancer.
