At present, two ongoing clinical studies aim to assess the efficacy and the safety of the p53-specific siRNA QPI-1002 in the context of ischemic AKI: one for preventing AKI following cardiac surgery (NCT02610283 phase 2), and the other for improving delayed graft function following kidney transplant in recipients of kidney from an older donor (NCT02610296 phase 3). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and acute kidney injury.
