LDHB and Merkel cell skin cancer: One possible explanation for the differential role of LDHB in MCPyV+ and MCPyV− MCC cell lines is that MCPyV+ cell lines rely on aerobic glycolysis, which requires continuous generation of NAD+ from LDHB suppression, while the oxidative cancer cells largely rely on LDHB activity to generate substrates for the Krebs cycle that fuels cellular activities.
