Epithelial cells produce a variety of cytokines in response to Candida infection, including Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF), Granulocyte Macrophage-Colony Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF), Interleukin-1α (IL-1α), Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and Interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as the chemokines Regulated on Activation, Normal T Cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES), Interleukin-8 (IL-8) and Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 3α (MIP3α) [13,14]. Here, CXCL8 is linked to candidiasis.
