Interestingly, in our previous studies, we showed that heparin can activate the c-Met signaling pathway by activating dimerization of c-Met receptor, which can then induce HCC cell invasion [59] However, when Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), ligand of c-Met, is in the environment, heparin suppressed HGF/c-Met signaling mediated adhesion, motility, and invasion [59].
