It is assumed that the high expression of caveolin-1 in prostate cancer may be related to the interaction between the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of scaffolding and multiple signaling pathways and to gene mutation and promoter methylation, but it is not related to serum PSA levels; these results suggest that caveolin-1 may play an important role in the progression of prostate cancer. The gene discussed is KLK3; the disease is prostate cancer.
