As we discussed earlier, Hh signaling alteration in cancer arises due to reasons such as overexpression of Hh ligands, which results in the activation of either autocrine or paracrine signaling, loss of function of the receptor, somatic mutation of Hh components such as GLI1 and PTCH1, and the overexpression of the Hh components [215].
