Engel et al. [110] performed a meta-analysis of GSTM1 and bladder cancer that included 17 studies and reported that the GSTM1-null status is associated with a modest increase in the risk of bladder cancer, and that there was no evidence of multiplicative interaction between the GSTM1-null genotype and once and current smoking in relation to bladder cancer. The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is urinary bladder cancer.
