In recent years there has been a growing interest in targeting the AR in breast cancers either by utilizing AR agonists such as enobosarm or by antagonizing AR actions using drugs primarily developed as therapeutic agents for prostate cancer which have been repurposed in the past number of years, specifically bicalutamide, enzalutamide and the CYP17 inhibitor, abiraterone. The gene discussed is AR; the disease is breast cancer.
