Correlations analyses between cytokines and vessel density showed that reduction of aqueous levels of VEGF, IL-1β and IP-10 during follow-up was significantly related to an increase of parafoveal superficial vessel density possibly due to a reduction of macular edema after anti-VEGF treatment or to a direct action of anti VEGF on vessel caliber. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and macular retinal edema.
