Although we have reported the robust expression of Saa3 in the lungs of mice exposed to inhalational regimens that elicit the development of allergic airway disease accompanied by strong TH2 and TH17 immune responses9, exposure of SAA3−/− mice to an allergic asthma model through the instillation of HDM extract revealed no difference in their responses compared to those from wild type mice. The gene discussed is SAA3P; the disease is allergic asthma.
