MiR‐21 promotes NSCLC cell proliferation and invasion through inhibiting the expression of PTEN, a well‐known tumour suppressor.16 In contrast, miR‐1253 suppresses NSCLC progression via blocking WNT5A expression.17 Therefore, miRNAs likely play dual roles in NSCLC tumourigenesis through silencing distinct targets. Here, PTEN is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
