The expression of IL‐24 from replication‐defective adenovirus carrying IL‐24 (Ad‐IL‐24) can suppress cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis in a variety of cancer cells.22 Li et al23 found that IL‐24 has a novel anticancer effect toward oral squamous cell carcinoma cells and that autophagy inhibition could improve the anticancer effect of IL‐24. This evidence concerns the gene IL24 and cancer.
