Previous studies have demonstrated that the effects of Pimozide on neurologic diseases are via antagonism of DRD2 [32], indeed, DRD2 is expressed in various cancer types [33, 34] and has been involved in regulating Wnt and AKT signaling [35] therefore, we postulate based on the data herein that the reduction of AKT signaling and AKT gene expression by Pimozide may result from inhibition of DRD2 receptor.
