Clinical evidence has shown that the level of NLRP3 from peripheral blood monocyte is highly associated with the severity of coronary atherosclerosis in patients (Afrasyab et al., 2016), especially NLRP3 inflammasome has been observed to localize in the cytoplasm of foam cells and macrophages (Shi et al., 2015). The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is coronary atherosclerosis.
