TH and Parkinson disease: The extracted decoction of Plastrum Testudinis (Tortoise shell), another component of DBYW, could substantially reduce the rotational behavior (Li et al., 2004; Deng et al., 2008) and increase the TH-positive neurons in the compact zone of substantia nigra (Deng et al., 2008), and also increase the levels of dopamine, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC), and homovanillic acid (HVA) in the striatum of the PD model rats (Li et al., 2004).
