In our study, an involvement of prenatal exposure to BP-3 in etiology of schizophrenia is supported by impaired autophagy including lowered expression of BECLIN-1, downregulated levels of RXRα and RXRβ, elevated expression levels of neurogenesis-related factor Mef2c, and neurotransmitter receptors Grin2a and Chrna4, as well as by dysregulation of 24 miRNAs, particularly upregulation of miR-489. Here, CHRNA4 is linked to schizophrenia.
