Curcumin is a good example [209,210,211] of decreasing cancer metastasis in mice by suppressing NF-κB expression and down-regulating VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), COX-2, and MMP-9 (matrix metallopeptidase-9) expression in tissues of the breast, brain, lung, liver, and spleen [212,213]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is cancer.
