As the cancer cells in our xenografts express VEGFA (Fig. 1G) and xenograft vascularisation is sensitive to inhibition of VEGFR signalling (Fig. 1H), this led us to hypothesise that the xenograft-associated macrophages can potentiate tumour angiogenesis that is driven by xenograft-supplied VEGFA.
