Considering that the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK/Erk signalling pathways are particularly important in cancer progression and both signalling pathways may be activated by signals transmitted via EGFR, we decided to check whether simvastatin present in its liposomal form would have an identical (or stronger) effect on cancer cells compared to free form of the drug presented before in many studies, e.g., [26]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is cancer.
