KIT and cancer: Kneitz et al. (2014) reported that miR-221 is an oncogenic miRNA which targeted CD117, and that it has the function of preventing cell proliferation and migration in endothelial cells. In this study, we also found that miRNA-200a-3p was significantly up-regulated; Pichler et al. (2014) reported that miRNA-200a-3p is able to exert its regulatory effect on EMT (epithelial to mesenchymal transition) and is involved in cancer stem cell properties in colorectal cancer.
