Grövdal et al. (2014) showed that AZA treatment reduced H3K27ac and H3K9ac and Tobiasson et al. (2017) reported increase of genes marked by H3K9me3 after treatment with AZA in addition to genome-wide DNA demethylation in CD34+ progenitor cells obtained from patients with myelodysplastic syndromes. Here, CD34 is linked to myelodysplastic syndrome.
