MS patients revealed lower expression of CX3CR1Hi NK cells in peripheral blood which correlated with disease activity (Infante-Duarte et al., 2005), and CX3CR1 was required for maturation of NK cells and a protective role of CX3CR1HiNK cells via elimination of autoreactive T cells is proposed (Hamann et al., 2011; Hertwig et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CX3CR1; the disease is myeloid sarcoma.
